Our professional team is the driving force of the Organisation. More than 4,000 qualified professionals, committed to animal welfare, innovation, food safety, quality, production processes, logistics and transport, so that the product arrives fresh on the shelves each day. It all adds up and they’re our greatest added value.

We’re committed to the UN 2030 agenda and their SDGs. We’re an Organisation with high standards of Ethics and Transparency, as reflected in our Code of Conduct. We apply social measures such as hiring vulnerable people and those at risk of social exclusion, even up to doubling the legal percentage where possible, which has led to the Incorpora Award from La Caixa on two occasions. The search for equality between men and woman made us worthy of the Equality Accolade from the Spanish Government. The Equality Endorsement and the Fent Empresa seal from the Regional Government of Valencia, among other accolades, prove compliance with these objectives. And the Award for Excellence in Business Management reflects our commitment to reducing accidents at work.

Together with the Kreas Professional Training Centre, we offer a dual training in our facilities and subsequent hiring in the company, helping with the qualification of workers in the meat and agri-food industry in order to contribute to the improvement of competitiveness. We annually give students at the University of Girona the opportunity to enter and take part in the world of work through co-operative education work placement agreements.

CBMF & FAMILY
CBMF & Family is a social action group with teams in the different plants which represent all the departments and age groups. This group promotes and organises activities to integrate our people, encourages teamwork and applauds diversity. They carry out activities throughout the year, such as company dinners, barbecues or sporting or youth activities with the employees’ children. A group which seeks the way to obtain social benefits for our people. Like every family.

Committed to animal welfare

We have the AENOR CONFORM seal, based on strict international Welfare Quality protocols, for the slaughter room and transportation.

We make the criteria of the World Organisation for Animal Health our own and in our farms and those of our providers we audit so that the breeding and fattening process is carried out with respect for the integrity of the livestock and with social responsibility.

Our experts audit that the animal is healthy, well-fed and not thirsty, with comfort in their rest area, no diseases or pain and transmitting a positive emotional state. This absence of negative feelings and stress is also a guarantee for the quality process of our products.

Sport and health

We understand sport as a source of physical health and schooling for moral values, and we support initiatives to encourage it, sponsoring Inclusive Football for disabled people, and the Oncoliga Foundation, which aims to raise funds for research and improvement in the quality of life of people with cancer.

Education

In teaching and research we’re sponsors of the Higher Polytechnic School of the University of Girona, and we’re involved in training young people through the Kreas Foundation for dual training and the Creativación Foundation, which aims to develop creativity in children through training programmes in schools.

Environment

In the environmental sphere, we were the first company in our sector to attain a Sustainable Credit (2019), which involves an obligation to improve in all our indicators, validated by annual external audits. An exciting challenge which will accompany us in the future and which joins the strict ISO standard 14 001 of our plants.

We’re committed to reducing plastic and to the circular economy, and we’ve achieved a reduction equivalent to 8 million plastic bags per year (1.2 million trays).

  • We use recycled PET plastics, and recycle them again after use.
  • We recycle the ends of the rolls and the clippings, so they can be recovered.
  • We reduce the micronage in packets and trays
  • We promote the use of flat skin packaging, in collaboration with our customers, with up to 60% reduction in plastic consumption.

We collaborate with the Sèlvans Foundation, with whom we conserve one of the oldest forests in Catalonia, of great ecological value and close to one of our industrial plants, in the volcanic area of Garrotxa. View more details.

 

Frigoríficos Costa Brava S.A.:

Not only we comply with current environmental legislation, we also go beyond legal requirements by establishing our own protocols for the application of Best Available Techniques (BAT). Applying our Enviromental Policy, we work every day to achieve the following objectives: optimization of water consumption through reuse measures, reuse of materials, recycling through selective collection, reduction of energy consumption.

Two of our new energy efficiency improvement projects have received a grant through the INSTITUTO DE DIVERSIFICACIÓN Y AHORRO DE LA ENERGÍA (IDAE), co-financed by the European Union through the FEDER Operational Program. Read more details.

Frescos Delisano S.A.U.:

We are committed to the sustainability of our surroundings through our Environmental Management System, based on the UNE-EN ISO 14001:2015 Standard. We are committed to comply with all legal requirements that apply to us and others that the organization subscribes to: environmental protection, progressive reduction of waste generation, reduction of natural resources consumption, continuous updating of the Environmental Policy and Program, establishing the objectives and goals of our Environmental Management System. We invest in the continuous improvement of the Company’s sustainability, as we have recently done in the meat cutting line and in the improvement of the efficiency of the croquettes line. The improvement in the meat cutting line (File E4IN12/2019/84) is a project that has IVACE and FEDER grants for its energy efficiency improvement. Read more details. Regarding the improvement of the croquettes line, the vertical packaging machine has been replaced by an automatic vertical packaging system in line, which translates as a clear technical improvement of this process, reducing the consumption of the plant in more than 93,000 kWh/year and avoiding the emission of more than 33,000 kg of CO2 per year. Embutidos Caseros Collell S.A.:

We have developed an energy saving and efficiency project consisting of the implementation of a frequency inverter in the refrigeration compressors, with an estimated saving of 58.89 te/year, which has been co-financed by the European Regional Develepment Fund (ERDF) and the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE). Other Collaborations
#EACTIVATe #ESTONOTIENEQUEPARAR

Together against COVID-19. Protected and Protecting, applying a strict contingency plan in our 17 production plants and making donations to hospitals and the Red Cross so that no-one is left behind. As a special service, we were one of the 3,000 companies who joined the #EstoNoTieneQueParar (ThisDoesNotHaveToStop) movement, which was ready and prepared at the most critical moments of the Coronavirus.

And now we join E-Activate: to boost activity so that the wheels of the economy don’t stop turning. We’re striving to achieve dynamism and flexibility in all those administrative processes that are necessary to drive digitalization, employability, productivity, mobility and the infrastructure and sustainability of our economy.

The same innovation which led us to be pioneers in 50 countries and put new developments on the market also served to transform our facilities and processes radically and in record time, in order to protect the 4,000 members of the Costa Brava Mediterranean Foods family. We had to shield ourselves in order to feed the country, but above all, in order to recover confidence when worry was everywhere. And we’d like to give thanks to all our staff for having achieved this.

So no one is left behind

Aware of our social responsibility for the most vulnerable, we donated almost half a million gloves to hospitals as well as PPE, masks and thousands of portions of food to the Red Cross. Crisis makes us stronger, but it’s not easy to face it and no one can be left behind.
