At Costa Brava Mediterranean Foods, we are committed to the European Week for Waste Reduction, from November 21st to 29th, with the goal of promoting actions for sustainable waste management

At Costa Brava Mediterranean Foods, we know how important it is to join in on these significant dates, contributing through our new and innovative strategies that help us take care of our planet — which, after all, is what gives life and light to our delicious products.

We work with various strategies for reducing and reusing plastics.

Separation of clean plastics in our plants, which are then sent to a recovery facility to be converted into new packaging, giving them a second life.

This action is in addition to the redesign of our trays, which allowed us to save the equivalent of 8 million plastic bags in the past year by reducing the thickness (microns) of the packaging.

Our trays are made with 85% recycled RPET plastic to promote the circular economy.

Plastic pollution is one of the main environmental and economic problems of this decade. European demand for plastic is around 49 million tons per year, of which 40% is used for single-use packaging. Of this disposable plastic, only 30% is recycled, while the remaining 70% ends up in landfills, incinerators, or abandoned in the environment.

During the Global Week for Plastic Reduction, we focus on contributing to the fight against the damage caused by plastic pollution in ecosystems.
