We take another step toward a more robust circular economy: Zero Waste verified

Once again, we have renewed our Zero Waste Verification with SGS, a leading company in verification and certification based on legal standards.

During the process, SGS reviewed our waste streams, traceability, measurement systems, and internal procedures to ensure compliance with the criteria established for Zero Waste verification, thus reinforcing the group’s environmental commitment.

Zero Waste as a driver of competitiveness and strategic vision

Joaquín Navarro, Sustainability Coordinator of the group, commented:
“The Zero Waste verification fits perfectly within our global sustainability strategy. It is not just a certification; it is a tool that helps us better manage our resources and move towards the circular economy, which is one of the essential pillars of our new strategic plan.”

At Costa Brava Mediterranean Foods, we have been moving forward in this direction for three years now, and the results are significant:

  • 94% of waste directed to sustainable destinations (recovery, regeneration or valorization).
  • More than 6,000 tons of waste reduced in the production cycle.
  • Optimisation of the waste ratio per kg of production (-6%) thanks to operational and efficiency improvements.
  • A stronger circular economy model, focused on continuous improvement.

The verification has driven a more efficient internal reorganization, involving teams from production, logistics, procurement and sustainability.

At Costa Brava Mediterranean Foods, we are strongly committed to Sustainability, working to transition towards more sustainable, circular and transparent models through environmental measurement, verification and validation services.
